How to Use Ready Boost in Windows Vista

Posted by *ΜΘŠŤ ŴÃŇŦ€Ď ĦÃČКЄŘ*

Steps:

  1. Click Start, then Computer.
  2. Right click the flash drive or memory card icon and choose Properties.
  3. Click the ReadyBoost tab
  1. Select "Use this device" option.
  2. Use the "Space to reserve for system speed" slide bar to adjust amount of memory you want to allocate.
    • The number that originally appears is the maximum amount available to use.
  3. Click OK.

Tips:

  • Besides a USB drive, ReadyBoost can be used with an SD Card, or a Compact Flash drive.

Warnings:

  • There must be at least 235 MB of free space on the device.
  • The USB stick/memory card must be fast enough or Vista will not allow you to use it for ReadyBoost. If the device is too slow, Windows will not start up. It will freeze at or before the boot screen. Don't worry, all that needs to be done is to remove the device.
